Book 1: Fresh Water [Video]

[Aang is peering into the journal so his face takes up almost the entire screen. He begins shouting into the book as abruptly as his image appears]

Hey! What am I doing here? I'm Aang! I'm an Airbender. Does anyone know what's going on here? I can't find my friends, my clothes or any of my stuff! I thought I was on my sky bison with everyone else going to see the Earth King. Now I'm here. Have anyone of you book people seen anyone I know?

[Aang has pulled away from the journal but continues talking as he sits in a patch of grass.]

This is a really weird place. But kinda peaceful. Definitely not weird enough to be the Spirit World. What is going on here?? And... have I always had these wings?

[Aang lifts up the book with one hand, squinting and examining it like some foreign object. This results in the picture showing his quizzical face from a skewed angle.]

[This is about when Sokka finally catches up with them. He would've been there sooner, but one doesn't leave molten metal just lying around in the smithy! At least they're easy to spot. Sokka catches the last thing Katara says though.]

Ex-nay on the oda-say. [Oh wait, nobody taught pig latin to Katara.] Remember that tea that the general- [Actually why is he even going into that, it's Aang!] Hey Aang! I think you're taller now. [Is he taller? It's hard to say. He wants to measure him against Katara.]

[Aang feels differing levels of dismay from both of Katara's statements, but the arrival of Sokka quickly cheers him up.]

Sokka!

[A quick hug is launched at Sokka as he finishes his statements.]

I think I am taller! Things have been looking more and more lower in the last year. And what's an odasay?

[Katara just silently watches and approves of this reunion.

It's... still... strange, but it feels so good to see her most precious people together again.]

[Sokka is so used to hugs by now you have no idea, so he TAKES IT LIKE A MAN.]

I've been having a similar experience. Like everything is becoming vertically challenged. And don't worry about the odasay. It's overrated.

[He doesn't exactly follow what Sokka is saying but laughs regardless.]

It's so great seeing both of you again. The three of us, back together!

[She's confused. Hadn't he just said that - they hadn't been apart? She wants to ask but bites it back. It's better. Not to ask about that just now.]

We should see about getting you your clothes and your staff back. They're probably in the shops.

[Sokka's thought process is similar, but he figures Aang is just overly sentimental. Kind of like his sister.]

Yeah, hate to break it to you, Aang, but white isn't really your color.

[Aang still felt the... reuion-y energy... or something!]

My stuff? So it's all here! Great! What are they doing in shops?

[Katara really hates the 'explain things to the New Feather' game. It's even worse because it's Aang, and although it means he's here... it also means he's here.]

The people who keep us here... I don't really know why our things end up in the shops instead of right next to us. Maybe it's just easier for them to shift things in bulk, since they keep the clothing and the item shops full at other times as well.

[Your turn to start explaining stuff, bro. She totally didn't leave all the hard parts to you, right?]

They give it back to us free, anyway. [Well. For some definition of free anyway.] So we should probably hurry before someone else decides they'd look really good in orange and yellow.

Alright! Let's go!

It's not too far. [She starts leading the way into the Clothing Store.

...but she doesn't get too far ahead of him. She kind of wants to keep him in sight.]

[Sokka leads even MORE cuz he's got seniority okay.]

After we grab you stuff, we can show you where we're staying. I'm pretty sure Momo will be happy to see you.

[Unless Momo has forgotten Aang which would be so many shades of terrible.]

[Aang does the opposite of leading, for reasons obvious enough that none of this description was even necessary.]

Good old Momo! I wouldn't want to have to miss him.

[He smiled at this point and at remembering the odds of Appa's arrival. Briefly wondering if Appa would come from his time or the past, he conjured one last smile-inducing possibility about future arrivals: what if air nomads.]

[Katara glances at Sokka, and then back at Aang.]

So... did anyone tell you about this place on the journals? Or link you to the guide?

It's pretty long, I won't lie. But also? Essential. It's pretty much packed with everything you ever will want to know about this place and then some.

Do I have to read it all? It sounds boring.

Well... you don't have to read it now. Sokka and I could explain most of it to you. But it's pretty important.

[Man, Sokka kind of hates explaining all this stuff. He's done it so many times now...]

Well, you're already figured out the different worlds from different times all showing up in this place, right? The reason we're here is because of some weird... I dunno that brings us all here. At least, that's what the Malnosso say. They put us in this big bubble land to experiment on us. Apparently these experiments are supposed to help them find a way to get everyone back home.

They bring us here to find out how to... send us back? I don't get it. Are they bad or not? And why magic books?

[He absentmindedly picks up his journal and starts flipping it around in front of him. He reconsiders their nagging words and sighs.]

Where's this guide?

They say that they don't actually bring us here. They say that the world itself does that. [What had Bil said? That this world ravages other worlds?

She holds out her hand for the Aang's book, although they are probably almost at the clothing store.]

Here, I'll show you.

[After scratching his head, he slides his book into her hand and smiles cheerily.]

[She takes the book with a smile and starts to page through it.

Oh look, they're at the Clothing Shop.]

[THIS IS WHERE SOKKA IS SUPPOSED TO SAY SOMETHING.]

Here we are, clothing central. All the clothes you ever wanted but never asked for. [He heads inside.]

[Aang glaces towards Katara flipping at his book and then follows Sokka.]

But I'm asking for them now.
