Book 1: Fresh Water [Video]

[Aang is peering into the journal so his face takes up almost the entire screen. He begins shouting into the book as abruptly as his image appears]

Hey! What am I doing here? I'm Aang! I'm an Airbender. Does anyone know what's going on here? I can't find my friends, my clothes or any of my stuff! I thought I was on my sky bison with everyone else going to see the Earth King. Now I'm here. Have anyone of you book people seen anyone I know?

[Aang has pulled away from the journal but continues talking as he sits in a patch of grass.]

This is a really weird place. But kinda peaceful. Definitely not weird enough to be the Spirit World. What is going on here?? And... have I always had these wings?

[Aang lifts up the book with one hand, squinting and examining it like some foreign object. This results in the picture showing his quizzical face from a skewed angle.]

[Katara glances at Sokka, and then back at Aang.]

So... did anyone tell you about this place on the journals? Or link you to the guide?

It's pretty long, I won't lie. But also? Essential. It's pretty much packed with everything you ever will want to know about this place and then some.

Do I have to read it all? It sounds boring.

Well... you don't have to read it now. Sokka and I could explain most of it to you. But it's pretty important.

[Man, Sokka kind of hates explaining all this stuff. He's done it so many times now...]

Well, you're already figured out the different worlds from different times all showing up in this place, right? The reason we're here is because of some weird... I dunno that brings us all here. At least, that's what the Malnosso say. They put us in this big bubble land to experiment on us. Apparently these experiments are supposed to help them find a way to get everyone back home.

They bring us here to find out how to... send us back? I don't get it. Are they bad or not? And why magic books?

[He absentmindedly picks up his journal and starts flipping it around in front of him. He reconsiders their nagging words and sighs.]

Where's this guide?

They say that they don't actually bring us here. They say that the world itself does that. [What had Bil said? That this world ravages other worlds?

She holds out her hand for the Aang's book, although they are probably almost at the clothing store.]

Here, I'll show you.

[After scratching his head, he slides his book into her hand and smiles cheerily.]

[She takes the book with a smile and starts to page through it.

Oh look, they're at the Clothing Shop.]

[THIS IS WHERE SOKKA IS SUPPOSED TO SAY SOMETHING.]

Here we are, clothing central. All the clothes you ever wanted but never asked for. [He heads inside.]

[Aang glaces towards Katara flipping at his book and then follows Sokka.]

But I'm asking for them now.

[You boys go ahead and do that shopping thing you like to do so much, Katara will be by the door taking care of business.

She'll find the Guide soon enough.]

... yes, yes you are. Come on.

[Frowning a Sokka frown, he takes a beeline for where new feather clothes are dumped. At least orange should be easy to spot, right? ~~No one else in Luceti is so tacky.~~]

[Aang quickly followed in Sokka's footsteps while gracefully dodging around other patrons and catching glimpses of some of the other odd ends of clothing on display. He was more engrossed by disappointment in a lack of exotic pets on display. Sokka seemed to know what he was looking for, so Aang stuck with following him while keeping his eyes open for some good old air nomad orange.]

[Finally locating the guide ~~and boy, was he ugly~~, Katara glanced up to see if Sokka and Aang - Aang!!! - had any success.]

[Sokka is digging and digging and AHA. This looks Airbender-y.]

Did you get a new outfit? This doesn't look like normal Aang-wear.

Yep! It's... from after your time.

[He frowns as he hands it over. OKAY WHATEVER.]

I guess it's not bad. I managed to get used to you having hair, after all.

[And Katara approaches.]

Did you two find anything?

NEVERMIND, YOU TWO KEEP ON GOING, SHE'LL JOIN IN THE NEXT ROUND.]

[Aang receives his clothes and is a bit put-off by Sokka's dismissal.]

What's wrong with them?

[And Katara approaches, the book held in her hand with one finger holding the place. She casually interrupts.]

How'd you do? Did you find them?

[Sokka gestured to Aang's new clothing.]

He went and picked up a new fashion without us.

You guys were there. Just not you you guys.

[He held up the clothes towards Katara, Sokka inspiring some self consciousness.]

How do they look?

[The fact that he's catching on to that differentiation so quickly both makes Katara happy... and sad. Because he shouldn't have to experience this kind of disconnect, or goodbye. He's had enough goodbyes.

So her smile is warm when she replies.]

I think they look great! Why don't you go get them on, and then I'll be a better judge.

But do that back there. [Sokka pointed out the curtains where the changing room was in the back.]
