[He resumes his stroll beside her, but a big agitated. He's used to Toph acting like this, but it touches a nerve this time with all the recent stress.]

[Hey, at least she knows she can count on you to take it seriously. Still, she'll drive the point home.]

We'll have a few different kinds of metal to practice with, I think. So if one kind doesn't click for you, there's other options.

Really? Yeah, that might help.

We can start with metal that's not processed as some. Kinds closer to their original rocky state.

[He nods]

That makes a lot of sense to me. Rcokiness sounds like a great way to get started. And I can see how it connects to Earthbending more easily, too. [Didn't the Guru tell him something about that once?]

[She nods, too.]

Exactly. It'll be a smoother process than when I just had to figure it out. And I know just where we can find a buttload of metal.

You do? Where exactly are you taking me, anyway?

[He tries to look around for any sign of their destination.]

[She points ahead. He might not be able to see it yet, but she can.]

Sokka's work. He might be there, but I'm sure he won't mind if we borrow some stuff!

[~~Assuming you meant to say "not"~~ Aang's smile fades at the mention of Sokka.]

Right. I should have guessed sooner. That is the best place for metal-y stuff.

[~~Whoops yes~~ Toph nods again.]

Uhuh. They've got a ton of it not even being used. So what better use to put it to than metalbending practice?

[He chuckles.]

Sure, they won't even know it's missing! And I can make it into stuff for them later anyway, if I get good enough.

That's true! I bet those smithy suckers would be glad to have our fine metalbending work.

[Like that Hiccup guy, what a loser.]

Yeah! [Except they're not suckers they're nice people.] There's a whole lot of things you can do with metalbending, huh?

Yep! Just like regular earthbending, it can be used to build things. But unlike regular earthbending, it can be bended and twisted and reshaped. You can't exactly twist a rock into a new shape, but you can with metal.

Wow... I could make a whole lot of fun things if I can get it down! Like a necklace even better than that seashell one!

...You're gonna use metalbending to make jewelry? [For Katara?]

[For Katara. And anyone else, really. He shrugs.]

It's a hobby. [He took it to heart when Sokka told him he'd have a future in the jewelry business.]

Kind of a sissy hobby, if you ask me.

[He replies teasingly.]

Good thing I asked myself instead, because I say it's a cool Avatar hobby. ...And Katara liked my necklace, too.

Yeah, sure. And you're all about impressing Katara, so...

I'm not all about it! Just... mostly.

[She cackles a laugh at that.]

Come on, Lover Boy. We're here. [She waves him towards the smithy door.]

[He sheepishly prepares a retort, but he gives it up when he notices the smithy.]

Alright. [He steps ahead to open the door, hoping no one's busy in there.]

[Inside, she points to a storage closet.] They keep the unfinished metal stuff in here.

[He nods and quietly opens the closet, then begins to survey the choices.] You're right, there is a lot.

[Aang looks back and forth a few times to ensure that no one's waiting to punish them nearby.]
