[Katara glances at Aang.]

Do you want us to meet you halfway?

[Aang nods at her in approval.]

If you'd like. I should be at the rec center in fifteen minutes or so.

All right, we'll see you there.

[She shuts the book.]

Come on, Aang. I think you'll like the rec center.

[Katara's only been there like, three times in two years, but she still thinks he'll like it.]

Sure! You think so?

[She nods.]

There are some games in there that look like fun.

[And she starts walking.]

[Aang strolls alongside her.]

I like the sound of that! Feels like forever since the last time I've played a game. I wonder what kinds they have.

I'm not really sure... I've only played a few at Masaomi's birthday party.

He had a birthday? ...And a party? ...And you were there?

[She nods]

Yeah, it must have been almost a year ago.

[Huh, he must be due for another one soonish.]

His friend Mikado threw it for him. They're from the same world.

[...come to think of it, had Mikado even shown up to that? It seemed like he hadn't, and Masaomi had been weird about it. Hmm.]

It was a surprise party, actually. I was in charge of getting him there.

[Aang is always caught off guard when hearing about how much history Katara has in this world.]

That sounds nice. Parties are always fun! ...I didn't know you knew Masaomi that long. Still weird to think of the way time works here.

I met him a little after we first got here. He reminded me of my friend Sanji - his hair was blond then. [AND he was a shameless flirt.

You know what? Better to just get that out there.]

And they're both a little weird with girls.

[But she gives him a soft look when he mentions time. It is strange to think that she's known Shikamaru longer now, that she'd been with Aang... and she'd technically been friends with even Masaomi longer than she'd been with Aang. It didn't displace Aang's position in her heart, but it did make it... a little more crowded in the room nearest to it.]

[Something in that look makes her feel uneasy. He had felt weird over the idea of Katara being in this world for longer than they traveled during the war, but he had not yet fully considered the ramifications of this. The seeds were starting to be planted.]

That's really... something. [He pauses a bit as he considers Katara's latter comment.] What kind of weirdness is it?

It's kind of hard to describe until you see it yourself. They don't mean anything mean by it. But... like, Sanji, for example? He calls me Katara-chan. He calls practically every girl that, and Masaomi tried to at first as well. And Sanji does this thing where-

[she stops to try to properly demonstrate the 'mellorine' but it looks more like Aang and Sokka's spirit wiggle]

-he does this if he's really happy being around a girl. [She starts walking again.] And I'm pretty sure I've seen him produce actual hearts in his eyes.

[He chuckles a bit at her wiggling.] That is pretty weird stuff. [Also, he takes her at her word that they don't mean anything by it] I guess all these people have their own ways of showing friendship from their won worlds.

[He soon finds a though to latch onto.]

I wonder if I can make hearts in my eyes... [He begins squinting hard and grunting while keeping his thoughts focused on her, then gives up and releases a deep breath after a few moments.]

[Erk. She has unintentionally given a wrong opinion. She is somewhat aware that her interpretation of things and the way things likely are are... different.]

First of all, I'm glad you can't make hearts in your eyes. It's creepy. And secondly... [sigh] what I meant by that was that they don't mean anything insulting. If you asked either of them why they were saying what they were saying, they'd both tell you they were completely sincere. But... it's a little hard for me to understand it.

Sorry, I just wanted to see if it could be done. I think I get it now... sounds like a really odd way to act. But at least they're good people?

...actually, there's a lot she's leaving out here in the broad sweeping description of their girl-oriented behaviors, but... that's a bridge she'll cross later. Aang deserves to know what Masaomi's up to, everyone else in the house knows, but first...

[That, at least, is completely true.]

[While Aang remains in Sweetie suppression mode. He still smiles at Katara.]

[And they should be coming up to the rec center right about now...]

I'll have to take you to meet Sanji and the rest of the Straw Hats. I think you'll like them.

I'd like that! I've seen you've made a lot of friends here... I have to find a lot too!

I'm sure you will! [For as long as you're here.] There are a lot of great people here.

[One such non-psychopathic murderer will be waiting for them at the rec center when they get there. Seeing as he took the teleporter into the building, he'd glad he beat them.

So he pulls up a seat in a beanbag chair (and now he wants one) and waits.]
