Book 12: Solid Foundations [Video/Action]

[Back home, Aang wasn't really one to pay much attention to individual dates of the month, aside from eventually looking out for his friend's birthdays and stuff, although he could barely remember his own. But in Luceti, it was a lot easier to keep track of time. After all, he could see what day it is right on the journal. It was a near part of every morning to check out what today's date was. Even though, as this month approached, he had begun to realize exactly how much time he was spending here. And it was today when he got the definite proof: for the first time, he saw a date in the journal he had seen before. March the 19th.

That confirmed it: he had already been here a whole year. To think he was technically 15 now, even though he didn't feel it (partly because his body is still 14 from the brief trip home he had several months back). It already felt like so long ago when first arrived and got used to the situation. To the fact that he and Katara weren't a couple in this world - and that Katara and Sokka had lived in this world for so long without him. He wanted to do what he could to make it up to them. And now, a year later, he wondered if he had. And if he could make any real differences here in this world, for the betterment of them all. And aside from that... He thought of how much things had changed over this whole year. How he learned his future and met his next life. Met Ikki, the airbending apple of his eye. All of the good, bad and ugly coming from knowing the future; and it was only possible here, in Luceti.]

[Aang pops open the journal when he's home that afternoon, regarding it with a bright smile.]

Hey, everyone. It's Aang. [He almost wants to say, I've been here a year now. Isn't that weird?] Have any of you ever been able to do anything really neat with your wings? I know they can't fly, but still... between my wings, airbending and Kipinn, there's gotta be some kinda awesome trick I can pull off...

[It just feels important for today in particular to accomplish something. To feel like he's grown in some way.]

And by the way! If anyone wants to go on adventures with me and Appa while there's still snow around, feel free to let me know.

[And he goes through a variety of tasks throughout the day. Aside from spending the early part of the day at school. And after school, then he spends a few hours playing around in the snow and possibly taking Appa out on some journeys. He also slips in some time at the library before going home for dinner. No need to make a big deal of the day. And before he goes to the bed, he bundles up and goes over by the river to do some rare nighttime meditation. He hopes that maybe he'll stumble upon something, some way to advance peace in this world.]

Well, I guess the question doesn't really apply to me, since I got my wings right before I arrived. But I wasn't able to fly at all until a week or two ago!

[ She doesn't understand some of his words, so she makes a mental note to ask him what they mean later. For now: ] What sort of adventures? That sounds like fun!

Any kind of adventure! It could just be playing in the snow or maybe exploring the area! We might be stuck in a bubble, but there's still a lot to explore.

I wouldn't call it a trick, but I've noticed when you flap your wings fast enough, the wind will brush the dust away from your clothes, more specifically the shoulder and back area.

[Kinda neat to have your very own feather duster on your back. Too bad it does nothing when you have an itch in those hard to reach places. The wings totally get in the way]

Oh... Yeah, Professor Oak. That could be... a really neat trick, yeah! [He says, just a little forced. Sorry, Professor, but cleaning his back is the last of his priorities and not exactly his idea of fun.]

I guess the closest I know is how to angle the wings right to help my gliding.

[Even a year later, Aang isn't tired of having to explain bending to other people.]

It's like the super coolest thing in the world! In my world, we can all "bend" the different elements. It's controlling the elements through movements! And airbending? It's for air!

[Wow, a private message! Aang doesn't know why, though. This guy just must be silly like Robin.]

I am! You know her, too? [It's refreshing to still meet friends she'd made here after all this time, assuming he was a friend.]

[Action] Whilst playing in the snow?

[Hey, there's Aang playing with his...whatever that thing was. He'd never seen it before but if it was with Aang it probably wasn't all that dangerous, especially not to him. He gets a little evil thought in his mind, and ducks behind a snowbank. He knew the Avatar liked to play games and he's about to get Aang back for that little fiasco earlier with the groceries.]

[He packs himself a nice snowball, and peeks up from behind the bank- and lets it fly right at Aang's torso.]

[Action] NO DENIED

[Aang had been bending the snow around him to put a snow mustache on Appa's face when the snowball got him right in the torso. It didn't bother him so much; actually, he was excited by having a potential playmate.

He turned with a smile and looked around for the source.]

Alright! Who's the wise guy! [And he turns to Appa, still grinning.] Seen anyone suspicious, Appa? We got a snowball tosser on the loose.

[ She's not sure what Kipinn is, but she definitely does know what bending is. She's excited to see Aang's skills. Mostly because she kinda maintains grudges against wind users, but still wants to know about them for revenge purposes tbh. ]

[ Korra is definitely still adjusting to all...this. She's established a few habits for herself - practicing forms in the barracks, riding around on Naga, keeping the both of them well fed, and trying to get used to the fact that she wasn't at home and here, Amon wasn't a threat. She still needed to get home to stop him, but it wasn't as pressing if time really stood still like she'd been told. So she tries to make things normal. Well, normal enough.

She's on her way back from the barracks, Naga at her heels, when she sees Aang playing in the snow outside the house. ]

Hey, Aang. You look like you're having fun.

[And Aang sits up within the snow angel he was forming with a smile.]

Hey, Korra. You look like you're ready to have fun!

[ she asks purely from curiousity, not 'cause she's raring to go on one herself. ]

Really? Madoka... That's kind of neat! Except crossing fingers is like lying, and I wouldn't want to use my wings like that...

[Going over by the river for his meditation, Aang may stumble upon Ai sitting close by it, relaxing after the end of one of her first days in Luceti.

She was hugging her legs as she enjoyed the quiet and the fresh air, breathing in and out softly. It was a good way to collect her thoughts and to simply soothe herself. Being close to the river was calming, the sight of the stars above was, too. It was a different, more pleasant view than what she got in her home city during nighttime.]

[He pauses as he sees her. There's a lot on his mind, but he can find time for a friend who's still adjusting to the place. Aang smiles as he walks over next to her.]

Good evening, Ai. How are you?

[There's actually a little bit of a smile on her face when she replies. It's not so much the mention of tricks with wings that attracts her attention - tricks she's never actually bothered trying - but the mention of Appa. The offer of adventures.

Of being able to fly again.

That one trip with Sokka had been amazing. Maybe one of the best things she ever experienced. And she'd give everything to recapture that sensation of flying once again.]

That's right, Katniss. Adventures. You up for some?

[It's be a nice break from having to deal with glasses-wearing jerks, right? Aang definitely is pleased to hear Katniss taking the initiative.]

[While he has taken to training in the Battle Dome, the woods provide a more peaceful sort of escape for Mithos. The atmosphere of the house has felt strained in the long weeks since he uncovered the existence of that other version of himself - he hates the strange sensation of not belonging with two of his closest companions, like they're all different shapes that no longer fit together. So instead, he's fallen into the habit of wandering among the trees with his thoughts.

Which is something of a downward spiral. What he could really use is a distraction, and a giant flying bison certainly falls right into that category. Conveniently near a large clearing, Mithos pauses, neck straining as he tries to get a better look.]

[He could get clearer shots of the bison seemingly slapping his tail into the snow over and over again, sending bits of snow flying. This is accompanied by a teen monk's laughter as he dodges some of the snow and then throws some snowballs back at the bison. It's the snowball fight of the century, to be sure.]

[ This is the silliest video ever, because Ikki is most definitely inside the house with Aang.

But she is seven and is therefore allowed. ]

[Of course it's silly. That means Aang's replying right away as he leans in a chair in the living room.]

That's great, Ikki! You have anything in mind?

[ Of all the people Aang could meet at the library, Astrid would probably be the least likely. Not that she didn't read. She was one of the few who had read the dragon training guide cover to cover (for all the good it did her). But aside from that, Berk hadn't exactly been rolling in books.

...And honestly, she'd rather be hitting things.

But Hiccup and Daria liked reading, and they'd both said there might be books like action movies (which Daria had introduced!) and so Astrid was at least willing to give it a go.

And so...library.

Yeah.

Sure was a place with a bunch of books.

Odin's beard was there a filing system here or what? Why wasn't there a sign that just said "ACTION BOOKS HERE" or something useful...?

Ah. Someone she knows. Who looks not-lost. ]

[Aang rarely looked lost, even when he was. He stops as he hears Astrid and turns to give her a friendly wave.]
