Book 19: Summer Breeze

[There had been a whole mix of things the last few weeks. The return of Korra, the coming of Kai, and the news of more airbenders in Aang's future. It was a lot to reflect on and take in, on top of Zuko and Kai's fighting.

But now, he thinks it's time to try to just breathe and relax. Summer's almost over, and the pool in the backyard of House 56 has been criminally underused this year. So, a fairly chipper-looking monk shows his face on the journals.]

Hey everyone! It's me, Aang. I just thought... since it's summer and all, and it won't be too long until fall... We could all have some fun! We have a pool in our backyard, and anyone's welcome to come and play in it today! It'll be lots of fun, really!

...Oh, and if you don't know where we live, it's House number 56! Follow the road down from the plaza, and when you see a house with two floors that's a got a statue of a guy's head in front of it, you know you've found it!

[Action]

[And so Aang can be found at the pool. There's an earthbending slide that can be ridden from the second floor to the pool, as well as a trampoline set up nearby. Aang will ride the slide and often jump into the pool while using a number of tricks using his airbending and waterbending. The teenage monk can also fooling around in an octopus form.

And of course since he's wearing shorts, his tattoos and scar will be very visible.]

Well... I know that. [He meant more private as in our backyard as opposed to going all the way to the beach, but whatever. It is Aang.] It's a good way to close out summer too. I guess I should have realized Luceti would have seasons too, huh?

[Sokka doesn't see Momo coming really. Or if he does, it's far too late.]

Momo! Really? I thought we went over this!

Yep! There's seasons no matter where you go. I guess it's always part of life!

[And Aang chuckles as Momo picks at Sokka's hair and makes some ooking noises.] Momo sure went over something right now - your head!

[theideaguy]

[Ooooh, did you just pun at him, Aang? Sokka's the humorist of Team Avatar, thanks. Sokka just looks up at Momo for a moment before shaking his head to get the wet, dank lemur off of him.]

I wish that joke went over my head too.

So how cold does it get during the winter? Please don't tell me it's as cold as it does at the Water Tribe? I'm not used to that any longer.

[Hey it was a sick joke - because puns are contagious. Aang keeps on smiling while Momo tries to resist Sokka's shaking.]

Oh Sokka, I'm sure you're still used to the cold. It's not that bad! But, uh... it does get pretty cold here in the winter. I don't think it's as bad as any of the Water Tribes... we're not near a pole, after all.

You'd be surprised how used to warm weather I've gotten. It was way too cold, and it wasn't even winter yet, when we were searching for Zuko's mother with Zuko and Azula...

—wait, did you know about that story yet?

Zuko mentioned it to me once! But I don't know really know much about what happened except that Zuko found his mom.

[theideaguy]

Whew. [Sokka can breathe a sigh of relief then.] I didn't know Katara didn't know about that, and her look when I mentioned Azula pore right through me.

Anyway, when you think about it, I haven't really seen the North or South Poles since we fought the Fire Nation with the Northern Water Tribe. That's something like two years. It's been a long time...

It - it really has been a long time. [It reminds him of how long since he's been home at all, and he frowns.]

But I'm sure you'll learn how to be cold again. Like an ice cube!

[theideaguy]

[Sokka shivers at that.]

Oh I don't think I'm going to have trouble remembering how to be cold. Remind me when I see Katara to conjure up an ice cube and slide it down your back. And then imagine feeling like that all over.

[Raises an eyebrow.]

Yoouuuu mean like that time I was covered in ice completely for a hundred years?

[Open mouth, insert foot.]

Yeah... exactly like that.
