[The only damper on everything great that had been happening recently was Katara's condition - it had been worrying him, especially with little signs of improvement with their return to the present.

But once the bell is sounded, there's the sound of running - and brief air scootering - from the kitchen.

And then a teenage monk is quickly barging into the room, his face painted with concern. He's been getting taller the past few months, and from the end of their time traveling trip onwards he's ended up growing some hair on his chin. He's framed in the doorway, with a loose noodle dangling from his mouth, and he finally takes a moment to slurp it up before he approaches, asking softly.]

Katara? Is - is something wrong?

[Katara turns toward the door.]

Aang? No, I--

[Wait. Pause. Eyebrow quirk because this is important and she would remember this--]

--when did you start growing a beard?

[She's awake! ...And she's noticed the beard. Suddenly, it's the ultimate test for his fledgling chin hair. He subconciously rubs at his chin.]

Oh... Just... a few weeks ago! When we were all in the past. [Then he hesitantly adds, as he realizes how out of it she's been since falling sick.} Do you... remember being in the past?

[Katara blinks again. One hand goes to her forehead. She's been sick for so long, all the days had blurred together in one giant ball of misery, but...]

I remember... I think I remember a day of packing up and having to move. Did you [faint hint of a blush here] - did you have to carry me? Or - Zuko?

[She seemed to remember being passed around quite a lot. Even Iroh... Ugh, how embarrassing.]

[He frowns, a little sheepishly, as he remembers.]

We... took turns. It- it wasn't hard though and we were really careful! [He presses on before he ends up blushing too.]

It's okay... whatever sickness hit you, I doubt any of us could have seen it coming! How are you feeling now?

[Okay, okay, moving right along...]

I feel... [she pauses, glances around the room] I feel better. My head isn't spinning around anymore, and I think [her stomach rumbles; definitely a good sign. she hasn't eaten much in the past few months, it's been hard to keep down anything other than fluids] I think I'm actually hungry.

That's great! [After her being miserably sick for so long, this is like a godsend! His smile reflects that with extra fondness.]

I'm really glad to hear that Katara. And... hungry. You're hungry? How hungry - do you want the rest of my noodles? [He waves his hands nervously.] Or... or I can heat you up new noodles! The newest noodles we have!

[Katara laughs a little and her doctor!training takes over.] Why don't we just start with some broth? I feel like [ugh] it's probably better to start slow. And then... how long have I been sick?

[Pause.]

...and was I imagining it, or is Toph really back?

[Aang manages to take a breath. And then he nods.]

Right, I'll have some good old-fashioned broth ready for you right away! But as for the other questions... [He rubs at his head - this is going to be a little difficult to cover.]

It's been almost two months... And... and a lot has happened. Toph is really back, and she remembers from two years ago. That's just the tip of... of the people-coming-back iceberg...

Two months... [Katara plops back against her pillows. Ugh, no wonder she feels like something an air bison stepped on. A lot could happen in two months. And wait--]

We were in the past? But now we're not? What happened? What do you mean, Toph's just the [what had he said? tip of the people-coming-back iceberg? Too many words.] beginning?

[Well, he never imagined that he'd have to apply his Ikki-developed skill of dismantling a series of questions of questions by one to Katara, but here he is. Smiling a little nervously, he takes a deep breath before he goes on with his explanations.]

Right, we were in the past! And then we came back a week ago. It was because of a shift by John, to before the Malnosso and the Third Party started, and... we stopped a lot of things from happening! And... ever since we got back to this time, people have been showing up everywhere! I think almost all of them have been here in Luceti before... There's so many of them!

[Woah, that's a lot of information and wait...]

What kind of things changed? What did we stop from happening? ...good things, right?

[Messing with time is kind of terrifying for Katara, considering all the weird ways her memory has already been affected in this place.]

Good things, yeah! [He says that slowly and fondly; he's definitely hoping that everything that seems to be good so far changed for the best.] I mean... that good things have wound up happening now, not that we stopped good things. As for what we changed, well...

It was John who shifted us back, to before any of the groups had formed. He was called Romaeus back then, and- and he used his notes from the future to have his talk to Theobald. Before Theobald became the- the General. [He looks on uncertainly, as if recalling something he witnessed firsthand.] It - it was really tough. But we were able to get through to him, so... he didn't make the Third Party or sacrifice his sister. They all worked together to make a different organization now! And from looking through the journal, it... it looks like it's a good one!

[He motions towards Katara's journal, which was left at her bedside. If she is going to look through it, he'll take this opportunity to duck out to finally make that broth.]

[Well, good things are... good. And stopping the General before he became the horrifying leader of hate-crazed suicidal killing maniacs seemed like a good plan to Katara, but there's news here she hasn't heard.]

He sacrificed his own sister? That's horrible. [She glances at the journal when Aang indicates it.] ...you mean, it's all changed in here? There is no Malnosso?

[Good things are good, that's a thing most people who aren't Ozai can agree on. He gives a grim nod at first.]

In the original timeline, he did. That's what what led him down the road to the Third Party. He thought that it would give her peace. But now he knows better. It looks like he and Julia are both alive and well. [Then he looks more hopefully towards the book.]

No more Malnosso. Now they're called... The World of The Future or something? It's not as easy to remember, but that's a small price for how better things seem to be! There isn't a war anymore, they don't do experiments on us, there aren't any kidnappings, a-and I think I heard it's even possible to leave the barrier now.

Really? But -- that's amazing!

[He smiles warmly. It's a response he likes to hear, and one that helps him feel more secure about his accomplishment..]

It is, isn't it? We... we really made it happen. [He takes a moment to bask in that feeling.] If you look in the journal, you'll see a lot more about the changes! ...N-now I should get that broth ready for you, Sleepyhead.

[And now he'll actually duck out to prepare dat broth.]

Oh - Okay. [She gives him a smile.] Thanks.

[And she'll... start taking a look at the journal.]

[She'll have some time to look through it while it warms up! Soon Aang comes in with a tray. On it, some broth and as a bonus, a fresh cup of ginger tea!]

Did someone hear order some broth? Coming right up! [And now he'll hand the tray right to her.]

[Katara straightens and glances up at Aang when he enters.]

Oh - Aang! What a wonderful change. Have you read all of these?

[He smiles warmly at her response. A lot of what he's seen and heard since their return from the future has helped him to feel good about what they've accomplished. But Katara's approval is always at the top of the list. He heads on over, to set the tray down by her on the bed, and to peer over her shoulder at the journal.]

Not all... but I skimmed enough to learn a lot of what's changed!
