He tried not to reflect on these as he sat outside the house. He focused on the small ball of air that he was bending up and down beneath his hand, almost like a bald cat with a ball of yarn. It was a lot more simple than most of Luceti's problems. But the ball dissipated the moment he heard that voice, and he turned to face Katara with an automatic smile that was just a bit weighed down by his worries.
"Oh... Hey, Katara!"

It would be easy to pretend he hadn't been affected - aside from some chocolate-induced hand-holding with Katniss at the spa, his encounters primarily happened in the remoteness of the forest. But he wants to face this (and is sure he'd be seen through anyway). After all, the way Katara said it implied she was being understanding. But some guilt still slipped into Aang's voice as he went on.
"Because... I was affected. Without even realizing it, I was having - my feelings were all mixed up."

She wasn't entirely sure how she felt about Aang having feelings for other people. Part of her was relieved, part of her felt a little lost - but she told herself that wasn't important now. It was about him.
