[Aang can't help but smile broadly as the familiar tiny arms wrap around him and that voice wrings around his ears.]

Ikki! I'm so glad to see you! I missed you too. Now come around so I can hug you back, princess!

[ That's easy enough to obey. Ikki's got on a big red sweater over her usual clothes today - and the aforementioned cobwebs, although that's not actually a fashion decision - and looks a little mussed from playing around in the maze, but otherwise perfectly fine. Soren lands off to the side and chirps his own greetings to Aang, although he doesn't go to interfere in any way. ]

I didn't know you were coming back today or I would've been waiting! I was just in the maze...

[He gives a brief smile of acknowledgement to Soren, but mostly he focuses on Ikki and wraps her in what could be the tightest hug yet. Despite everything he's been through the last few days... seeing her smile helps him to feel so much better. Because that's what he was fighting for.]

I just got back. It's okay, Ikki. I'm here now. But... what maze?

The corn maze, out where the farmland is! It's huuuuuuge, and you get a prize if you get to the middle of it. I got - [ Oh, and now she realizes she dropped the thing. Soren picks it up in his beak and offers it up, and Ikki presents the little sign to Aang, grinning. ] we got this.

Some people're getting candy from it, I guess? But we can always try again later on.

[He smiles warmly at the cardboard cut-out.]

I like it! It's real silly. You must be really good at it, huh? [This must be the kind of thing Katara mentioned in her letter. A shift that seemed harmless, and fun. Just what he needed to return to.] I'll gladly try it with you sometime later, Ikki!

Soren and I got through it faster than some other people, I think! It was fun.

[ She's visibly trying not to ask about what Aang has been up to, about what happened. Because Ikki's not certain now is the time, and Luceti has sort of been teaching her that, in the pained silences and smiles she'll get from her family sometimes. And she doesn't like causing those.

But she does say, a little more quietly: ]

Are you okay?

[He pats her head, picking out some of the cobweb pieces in the process. There's a flickering in his eyes and his smile fades slightly.]

I'm... I'm okay. Grandpa's just tired. A lot happened. [A lot he can't stomach to relate. Robin's a zombie. Me and Roku helped kill Moro. I watched Masaomi and Linda kill.] But I'm glad you had a fun. You must be the best maze solver in Luceti, Ikki.

Do you need to sleep? [ She makes a face at the cobweb Aang takes away, reaching up to brush off her head again. THESE THINGS ARE RIDICULOUS. ]

Well, it just takes a lot of energy!!! I think, anyway.

I think so. I should try at least, right? [But he gives a weak smile at her face. You're ridiculous.]

I bet it's also cuz you're real smart. But you're really great at energy, too.

Yeah! Especially if you're tired. When you wake up, I'll show you all the things that popped up!

[He leans down to give her a small kiss on her forehead.]

Thanks, Ikki. I'm sure you have lots of great stories to tell. [He's glad to be with her again. So glad that she's still safe and happy. But he's not sure if he can feel on the same level, just yet.] I'm gonna do what I can to fill up my energy, and then I'm gonna have all the fun with you. We still have Halloween, after all.

[ Ikki gives him another hug, tight and sudden. ]

'Kay. I'm glad you're home again, grandpa.

[He takes the hug and squeezes her back.]

Glad I'm home, too.
