[She stops. Because she realises she doesn't know anything about Aang's actual family-- just his future family. So after a moment of frowning, she tries again.]

Aang... you are the Avatar.

What do you mean? That's... it's impossible! I'm just a normal bender.

[mikangirl]

So says your card, which is lying to you a whole bunch, I note.

Try bending some water.

[savedtheworld]

[He glances around desperately before looking back at Nami.]

Why would I want to do that? Why would I want to be an Avatar?

[mikangirl]

Beats me. I don't even know how being an Avatar works. I just know you can bend water.

[savedtheworld]

I... I don't even know how I would do that. There's gotta be some kinda mistake.

[mikangirl]

The mistake is trusting everything you read on that card. [But she feels bad now, because Aang is obviously having difficulty with this notion.] Look... normally? When I talk to you, you've got no problem with being the Avatar. You're comfortable with it. And you smile a lot and you're always happy to help. So please don't think that maybe being the Avatar is a bad thing. Someone's messing with you.

You mean that? I'm the Avatar and... and I'm good?

[mikangirl]

The Avatar might have his own problems...I don't know. But he's not a bad person. I'd bet my life on that.

I have a feeling people don't come much better than you.

[savedtheworld]

[He looks at her for a moment with an expression that's hard to read. He feels something... something gratifying. He didn't remember her. Not at all. But she believed in him. And that made him feel power.

There's something like a smile. But then he walks past her, towards the river. He looks down towards it questioningly and at his hands at the same time.

Could he... really?]

[mikangirl]

[Nami turns as he walks past, confused for a brief moment-- until she follows his gaze to the river. Then she keeps her silence, watching from a distance.]

[He doesn't look back at her just yet. When he speaks, he's mostly talking to himself, but he speaks loud enough that she can hear.]

When I Firebended, I was thinking fiery. Now, maybe I should try to think... watery-.

[If this would work. If it wasn't crazy. He waves his hands over the water, trying to focus, trying to think like water and see what happens.]

Have you seen a Waterbender in action before?

[That you remember? She has no idea if he's run into Katara or not.]

Katara. One of the people I live with. She called it water dancing. But... Maybe it was...

[He remembers the dance she did that night. It was so beautiful and vivid, that it flowed so clearly through his memory. He closed his eyes, focused, and he began to mimic these graceful dance movements.

He didn't need to open his eyes to know that the water was following his movements in the air above him, as he danced to a music box that was playing in his memory.]

[mikangirl]

[Water dancing. Well, that's close enough.

Nami's only response is a gentle, let out breath as he pulls the water gracefully from the river. It's always been beautiful to see... and clear enough that his instincts aren't so buried when it comes to this.]

[savedtheworld]

[He goes on for a few minutes, bringing the water hither and thither. Whatever this is, this feels natural. This feels great. Was the card wrong about him being a dancer, too? And he felt a stronger link, to Katara, too, which was great. Because she had been the nicest person he met so far.

After a few minutes, he lets the water splash down and then turns to face Nami, breathing heavily.]

[mikangirl]

[And Nami grins at him.]

Told you. That was pretty impressive.

[savedtheworld]

[It felt so natural. It felt so right. And if it weren't for her, he'd be too blinded by grief to try. So he starts to smile at her.]

Th- Than-

[But words fail him. He thrusts himself foward and opts to just hug her.]

[mikangirl]

[...oh. That was unexpected.

Nami hesitates for just a moment, more out of surprise than anything else. Then grins softly and hugs him back. Eating him that much, huh.]

You're welcome.

[savedtheworld]

[Hugs feel good.

After a moment, he pulled back and nodded.]

I... I feel better now. And I'm really grateful you helped me. Now I'm starting to wonder something else. Since you... remember things, do you know someone named Katara, too?

[mikangirl]

I do. She's one of my best friends here. [She leans against a tree and smiles at him.] You know her, too. But I guess you'll remember in a few days.

[savedtheworld]

Oh, really? I thought we probably knew each other, because of living in the same house. She's already been real helpful to me. I guess that means she's always that nice! Her card says that she has a necklace from her mom, she's responsible for a girl who live with named Ikki who's like family but we don't know how, she doesn't like blood, and she can't cook. And she also found out by herself that she can water dance, which I think is the same as waterbending, and she's been real happy since then. But do you think there's anything else you know about her that can help her even more?

...herein lies a small pause in which Nami decides the full truth about Ikki and Katara can wait for another day.]

[mikangirl]

Well, I think the card is telling the truth about the necklace and Ikki. Nobody likes blood. [That just makes logical sense to her.] But it's totally lying about the cooking, so you can pass that on if you like.

She also has a brother in town. Have you met Sokka? And other people you guys live with are Toph and Zuko. You're all good friends. [She knows there are others from their world here, but lord knows if they live there. She normally sees Katara outside the house for practice.]

Um... definitely a waterbender. She's really, really good at it. And she can use her waterbending to heal, too. And normally the two of us meet once a week for staff practice, but that's... well, not that important, I guess.

[savedtheworld]

[He pauses to take it all in before he responds.]

Oh... Really? Thanks for that, I'll keep it in mind. I don't want to make it sound like she has to cook, though. Me and Ikki have been trying to make things instead.

I don't know any Zuko, but I... kinda met those other two. [It was really, really weird.] That's real good to know, though. She can heal, too? But I'm sure she'll want to practice with you again when she remembers.
