But why would a wolf make a hat of itself?

Because maybe I wanted to be able to fit in with my wolf brethren? Excuse me for wanting to celebrate my cultural heritage.

Okay, okay, sorry. It's just hard to tell how much you know for sure and how much you're just guessing.

[markofthewise]

Some of these things you just know, okay? [It's all guessing. So much guessing.]

I guess so. Have you tried to find this wolf family? Maybe they could explain more to you.

Oh, yes, there's a great idea. Too bad the six-legged beast killed them. Maybe I can ask him about my wolf heritage. I bet that will be great.

S-sorry. I forgot. But maybe you could find wolves that knew them or maybe there are cousins- hey, over there! That's the stone head!

[markofthewise]

[Maybe, but he hasn't seen some wolves. But Sokka looks at the stone head with a puzzled expression.]

That doesn't look like me. I have a beard.

[And as he gets a closer look...]

Oh, right. It doesn't look as much like you as I thought I did. A lot of it still looks like your face, though.

[markofthewise]

Kind of. Like maybe a younger, wimpier me. Anyway, where's the monster?

[savedtheworld]

[He rubs his head under the rim of his hood-hat as he looks around.]

I dunno, he was somewhere around here last time I saw him.

[markofthewise]

Well lead on, kid. I've waited my entire life for this. It's time to see it through.

[savedtheworld]

Well my house is there, so he should be somewhere around-

[And there's a loud yawn coming from one side of House 56, in Appa's shelter.]

[markofthewise]

[Sokka immediately sticks out an arm in front of Aang, halting him.]

Shhh! I hear it!

[savedtheworld]

[Aang halts, but he continues speaking in his normal voice.]

That does sound like him!

[markofthewise]

Shush!

[Sokka is creeping forward, crouched and with his hand on his sword. As they round the house, Sokka spots him. He is stunned. He whispers to Aang.]

Whoa, look at the size of that thing. And those horns! What a monster.

[Aang follows carefully but not as stealthily. He looks over from Sokka to the bison, and he can't help but smile.]

Doesn't he look kinda adorable?

[markofthewise]

Are you serious? Look at those horns! And that arrow! It's like it's pointing at his mouth. Sort of a map to where he wants you to be, so he can eat you.

[Yes. Evil arrow. It all makes sense.]

[savedtheworld]

But it's so up on his head, it could be pointing to any part of his face. [Oddly like that skin condition on his head.] It could be pointing out his mind, too, if he's smart.

[markofthewise]

You're right. We shouldn't underestimate him. For someone to be able to kill my family, they'd have to be some kind of evil super genius.

[savedtheworld]

We don't know that yet. Let's... you know what?

[Bonzu steps forward and calmly begins walking towards the bison.]

[markofthewise]

No, you crazy fool! Get back here! Don't be a hero!

[That's my job!]

[savedtheworld]

[But Bonzu's already been spotted. Appa remains in his little alcove, some hurt in his eyes from Aang's failure to recognize him. He looks towards Bonzu, but does not get up at all. While Bonzu continues to draw near.]

Hey! Don't worry. I'm not gonna hurt you. I just wanna talk.

[markofthewise]

[That tears it. Sokka has already started weaving around for a secret attack. He won't let his new friend die this way!]

[Bonzu steps forward, a foot from the bison. Appa remains cautious, just sniffing at him.]

You're no killer, aren't you? I... I think I can see it in your eyes. You wouldn't hurt anyone, would you?
