...That's it. You've cracked. You've really gone crazy this time. Earth to Aang! Anyone in there?

[She traipses over to knock on his bald head for effect.]

[He backs away defensively.]

Hey, don't touch the hat!

[Hat? Oh, right...hat. Ugh.]

What's so special about some dumb hat?

It's the best hat I ever wore. I haven't felt this good in a long time before wearing this hat, and I've never loved tea more! The hat just really helps me to open up my mind, you know?

So...it's that hat that's making you crazy.

C-crazy? It's made me happy! I can't even remember whatever the trees said that made me so upset to begin with!

Wait--the trees said something else to you? Before you put on that stupid hat? What was it?

[Come on, Aang. She wants to understand why you've lost your marbles.]

[He freeze up briefly.]

I... I can't remember now. And why would I want to? The trees have been so much nicer to me because they like my hat I guess!

I don't think it's that. It's that that stupid hat has made you stupid, too!

That's a really mean thing to say, Toph.

Oh, yeah? Well I'm gonna say it again: your hat? Is stupid.

Hey! Quit it, Toph!

[In his anger, he starts to lose control of the rocky elevator.]

[metalbends]

[That gives her an idea. Maybe making him lose control of the rocky elevator was the key, so she can knock that dumb brainbending hat off his head. So she deliberately rocks the stone they're on--she knows she can catch herself, but will he?]

Whoa!

[It's a rocky road, but this is still a master Airbender we're talking about. He twinkles his toes and struggles to keep his footing. But, he does lose control of the elevator in the process.]

[Well, at least he's still living up the the nickname...]

Oh brother.

[She jumps to the side off the elevator--though part of her wishes she had stayed on to ride away from him. This is getting ridiculous.]

Look, just take it off!

Toph!

[Aang's instincts kick in, and he jumps off of the elevator after her to try to catch her. As he jumps, he's barely keeping control over his hat.

And another tree calls out, recognizing Aang, "Hey! The Avatar's seemed really happy this month, right? But he also feels guilty now that Luceti's granted him his secret wish for a family".]

[...Oh.

Wow. Toph just stops, perching herself on a column of rock and just waiting to see how Aang reacts.

...Man, these trees just don't know when to shut up, do they?]

[Aang manages to grapple into a tree, seeing Toph is safe. But the hat's grip on his head has loosened through all his movement. He looks a bit more coherent... but instead of talking, he just gives off a somewhat somber stare that's hard to read. He briefly glances towards Toph, but then he looks down in the direction of Tenzin's house.]

...Aang? Are you okay?

[It's the only thing she can think of to say right away.]

[He looks at her with worry in his eyes. But then he finds himself pulling the hat down tighter, and he starts to smile again.]

I'm fine, Toph. I was just thinking about how much Tenzin and Ikki and Jinora would love the tea party.

[metalbends]

...Right.

[She starts over the broken rock elevator towards him.]

You're pretty happy they're around, huh?

Of... of course I am. I love having a family, I... I always wondered.... [He blinks.] And tea. I love that too.

Action, Topsy Turvy Event

[metalbends]

[Ugh. She'll never get a straight answer out of him with that stupid hat on--but maybe it's just as well. The tree said he felt guilty, too--did she really want to bring that up? After how distant they'd been these past few weeks?]

...Never mind. Let's just get out of here.

Great idea, Toph! Loser doesn't get any tea!

[He jumps down from the tree and begins skidding down the side of the mountain, then earthbending to make quick steps to run or hop down.]
