Book 1: Fresh Water [Video]

[Aang is peering into the journal so his face takes up almost the entire screen. He begins shouting into the book as abruptly as his image appears]

Hey! What am I doing here? I'm Aang! I'm an Airbender. Does anyone know what's going on here? I can't find my friends, my clothes or any of my stuff! I thought I was on my sky bison with everyone else going to see the Earth King. Now I'm here. Have anyone of you book people seen anyone I know?

[Aang has pulled away from the journal but continues talking as he sits in a patch of grass.]

This is a really weird place. But kinda peaceful. Definitely not weird enough to be the Spirit World. What is going on here?? And... have I always had these wings?

[Aang lifts up the book with one hand, squinting and examining it like some foreign object. This results in the picture showing his quizzical face from a skewed angle.]

Yes! Hey, Suki! Wow, all my friends are here and I didn't even have to look that far! How have you been? I haven't seen the Kyoshi Warriors in a while!

[kyoshi]

[S-such enthusiasm... it's refreshing to have him back, truth be told. Luceti can be awfully quiet and melancholy sometimes.]

To be honest, I haven't seen them for a while, either. Has Sokka explained where you are yet?

Yeah, I've been hearing different parts from different people. I have a pretty good idea of what this place is. It looks pretty fun!

[kyoshi]

Fun... well, it's not all bad. [Sort of like home- gotta take the good with the bad. It's just that the bad here can be really bad.] So... what's the last thing you remember from our world?

I'm from a year after the war. The last thing I remember is being with Katara, Sokka and Toph, and we were riding Appa to see the Earth King... Are you from a different time? It hurts my head just to think about this stuff!

[kyoshi]

[Oh wow... this is the first time anyone's ever been from beyond the war by more than a few days. What does the future hold for all of them? What does Aang know?

...Did she and Sokka really go their separate ways?]

The war had just ended for me... we were still in the Fire Nation when I showed up here.

[savedtheworld]

[Naturally, Aang does not guess any of these concerns. ...And actually, a quick skim of The Promise shows no signs of whether or not they're still together.]

Huh. Everyone seems to be getting pulled from around the end of the war... and Katara was even earlier. I wonder if I'm the only one from my time. Still, our celebration after the war was real fun, right?

[kyoshi]

[IT'S HEARTBREAKING ISN'T IT- but no, focus. Suki will stay focused here.]

Yeah, it was pretty amazing. And even if not everyone is from the same time, we're all happy to know that it ends well! So I think it's okay.

[But of course, only Aang has fresh memories of factors which could make that ending unhappy.]

Yeah. That's good to know. Everything will be just fine.

[kyoshi]

[She just. Won't think of there being any problems. Everyone's happy as far as she knows and the world is at peace because they earned it. End of story.]

You can come stay with us. We've got a house here, and there's plenty of room!

That sounds great, Suki! If you're with us too, it'll be even more like old times!

[kyoshi]

Has it really been that long since we were all together?

[Time to try and dance around canon!]

Yeah, sadly. We all went our separate ways after the war. You went back to Kyoshi Island, and me, Katara and Sokka have been busy helping with the peace effort. We've all been too busy to meet up that much. I can't remember the last time Sokka went to visit you.

[kyoshi]

[...Oh... wow. Oh, wow. That's...

Backpedal, Suki, let's ease up for a minute. There's probably a very good reason for this! She just doesn't know it yet. Yes.

Unconsciously she lifts a hand to fidget with her necklace, trying to push aside her uncertainty. This is not the end of the world. She can handle this.]

Well... is someone going out to pick you up? Maybe we can have our own little reunion party. It's been a long time since we've seen you, too.

[Haha I made a continuity error already with mentioning Katara earlier.]

Yeah, I'm gonna meet with Katara. That's a great idea! We can all have fun and get even more catched up there!

[kyoshi]

[Pah, errors! Like anyone cares in retrospect. /o/]

Sounds great! I can't wait to see you, then. Though you might find things really different from what you know around here. Brace yourself!

[And she's not even aware of the whole... romance thing. Eh-heh.]
