Book 9: Refreshed Air [Action/Video]

[This morning, Aang did not wake up in his bed. No, he woke up some ways outside of the village, with an old friend. It took soe time for Aang and Suki to come to grips, but eventually the facts became clear. Suki had come back to Luceti without memories. At the same time, Aang had spent an overnight trip home. He lived out several days at home, where he saw the Yu Dao conflict through to its end and founded the air acolytes.

And now he was back. In Luceti. He knew who Ikki was again. One of the first things he did upon realizing what happened was scribbling a journal message for everyone at home - assuring them he was still around. It might be hard to tell he was gone if anyone was awake that early. After all, he didn't have many possessions, and his room was shared with Roku who was keeping a more irregular sleeping schedule during the draft. The only visible evidence would be the absence of the prayer beads which he had given to Ikki.

So Aang spent most of the morning helping Suki to adjust, hoping that her memories of her previous stay would be awakened. He wasn't really so familiar to people returning without memories. But eventually they parted ways so that Suki could be reunited with Sokka. Once he saw that only a night had passed during his absence, he had guessed that he might have been the only one to go home. The others might still be there. The same as he left them. So he headed to House 56 to check in with everyone next and give the physical proof of his presence. He came fully clothed in his air nomad robes, wielding a set of prayer beads that were notably missing a Fire Nation emblem.

Once all the bases are touched, Aang tries to go about his daily schedule as usual, probably being late for school and skipping out on the Welcome Center to instead explore the forest. Now that he remembers, he looks around carefully for any sign of Moro's presence.]

[And this video message is recorded before dinner, when he stops back at the house between forest treks.]

Hey, everyone. It's me, Aang. This place is really weird sometimes. I used to think when people went home, they stayed home, at least for a long time. But sometimes people have been gone for just a few weeks, and me... I was just gone for one night. I doubt anyone noticed, but I'm still sorry if I worried anyone. And my friend Suki came back too. Really unpredictable, right?

Still, some of you might be pleased to know that at home, only a few days passed, but things are really turning out for the better. Things are even more at peace, and I feel more connected with my people than ever. I hope everyone's having a great autumn, while it lasts.

Nice to meet you, Spock! I'm Aang! I'll gladly answer some questions. Are they riddles?

It is well to make your acquaintance Mister Aang. [Spock observes the interesting markings on the boy's head...]

They are not riddles, however, they are of a mysterious nature. I am wondering if you retained your memories of Luceti when you were returned to your universe.

Oh, I see. No, when I returned home, it was like... nothing had happened. I didn't notice any difference. I didn't remember Luceti at all until I was back again.

[spohkh]

That is most... unsatisfactory. You have experienced no change at all?

[Spock sounded hopeful...]

I'm sorry. I hoped I would remember things, I really did. But I... I didn't. And some things I learned for the first time here in Luceti, I learned again back home.

[spohkh]

[Spock hears the apology and notices that he made the boy sad....]
Apologies are unnecessary, you are not at fault. I am merely collecting data to expand on a few theories.
[And because Spock is always curious.....]

What was it that you learned?

Oh, I see. Like for science and stuff?

Part of it had to do with how I'm kinda related with one of my friends, but through the guy I was reincarnated from. And some of the things that happened when I went back, they matched up with what I've been learning here from people who are from my future! Like, I founded a group called the air acolytes, who I heard exist in the future!

[spohkh]

[Spock gives the figure on the screen a curious look....]

I see. [...no you don't Spock.]

Am I to believe you possess powers that are beyond the human norm?

[He gives a short laugh.]

Yep! On my world, there are people who can bend the four elements. I was born an air nomad, but I'm also the Avatar, so I can bend all of the elements. I'm also really good with spirits!

[spohkh]

[Spock's face lights up with curiosity.]

Ah yes, do you know of a Miss Bei Fong?

I do! She's my Earthbending teacher, and she lives with me! I guess you've run into her, too.

[spohkh]

Indeed. A rather curious individual.

However... it may not be my business, would you inform me of her eyes? The pigment would suggest that she is blind.

[savedtheworld]

Oh. [Awkward, there. But Aang doesn't think it's supposed to be a national secret or anything.] Yeah, she's blind as a wolf-bat alright. But she's such a good earthbender that she can use vibrations to kinda "see" with her feet! It's really neat. A lot of the time her version of sight can be even handier than our own.

[spohkh]

She does have an extraordinary power.... I had the opportunity to witness it on one occasion.
You mentioned that you were the 'Avatar'... May I inquire as to what that title entails?

[savedtheworld]

That must have been quite a sight! But being the Avatar... It means I got a lot of responsibility in my world. The Avatar's part of a cycle of reincarnation, and he or she is the only one who can bend all four elements. The Avatar is supposed to do what they can to keep peace in the world, and to be a bridge to the Spirit World, too.

[spohkh]

[Spock quirks an eyebrow...]

Interesting. Would you be amenable to giving me a demonstration of... bending the elements?

[He reaches into his robes, pulls something out with his hands tightly closed and then opens them slowly to reveal...]

[Marbles, spinning between his hands at a high speed through airbending.]

[Lucky for you, magical abilities of any sort extremely fascinate Spock.]

[He observes the demonstration with curiosity...]

That is a most fascinating ability Mister Aang.

Indeed? Perhaps if you are amenable you could give me a further demonstration in person?

I'd be glad to! Where should I meet you?

Perhaps just outside of the Dome?

Sure! I could be there in a few!

[spohkh]

Very well.

[Spock gives Aang a half-smile, then the screen goes blank. He heads out the door and goes to the Dome.

Once there he stands by the entrance, waiting for his young companion.]
