Book 5: Spirits of Adventure [Video/Action]

[The 14-year old monk looks into the video feed with a friendly smile during a break in the rainfall. He's standing on the lawn of House 57, and Appa is chewing down on some hay in the background.]

Hey, everyone! It's me, Aang. It's been a while since I really tried talking to everyone through the book, so I thought I'd give it another try. After all, I really like to make more friends, and it seems like something I should do more anyway now that I work at the Welcome Center! And... in case you only know me from during shifts or something, you should know that I'm not a crimefighter, a little kid or an old man, and right now I'm kinda sick of tea. I'm something that's called an Airbender and the Avatar.

I also want to introduce you to this guy, Appa. He's my sky bison. Say hello, Appa! [Aang moves to the side briefly while Appa gives a lazy bellow.] Isn't he great? So... this is what I have in mind. I wanna take Appa out more and do what I can to explore this place when I have time. And if any of you want, whether I already know you or not, you're free to join me and help me find places to explore. I think I'll do these kinds of adventures throughout the whole week, especially if the weather clears up, so if you wanna come, let me know when!

[There's some chittering noises as a lemur pops out of Aang's sleeve.] You can come too, Momo!

[Action]

[So throughout the week, Aang rides Appa around the enclosure in search of secrets, adventures and such. Before he sets off, Aang stops by the fountain in the plaza with Appa to wait for any traveling companion. He also could be found running random errands at the Welcome Center.

Also, Appa may be familiar to some because of his fur. Appa arrived back in May, and especially in the time following that, he would have been shedding some fur with the coming of summer. So characters are free to have recognize that fur having been dropped throughout Luceti during his flights.]

Right, that'll be another time. For now, off to the ocean! [And now they're making their way towards the edge of the mountains.] I guess one other good thing about being here is all the beach parties!

[Rydia laughs at that.]

They are a nice way to pass the time, true! We should have more of those before summer is truly over.

They have been really fun and relaxing. It really helps with hos stressful things can get here. But I'm sure there'll be more!

There will be, I would bet anything on it.

[Until then, they at least have their own little adventure. She watches in silence for a moment, as the ocean comes into view. Her smile widens, enjoying the sight of the bright blue water stretching out into the distance.]

There it is! [He grabs Appa's reins, and Appa starts descending to a lower altitude.] Let's get a closer look.

[Rydia leans in, eager for the view. She nods to Aang, then reaches out to pat their furry friend.]

What do you say, Appa? Ready to enjoy the ocean?

[Appa gives a growl of satifaction.]

He's ready alright!

[And they clear through the beach, with Appa moving at a faster pace. Appa's about ten feet over the water as it comes into view, but Aang has him slowly lower himself more. He takes a few moments to look down at the view of the ocean.]

[Rydia laughs and whoops, thoroughly enjoying the unique view Appa's giving her. Who can have a bad day over the ocean like this? Not her, that's for certain.]

Wonderful! Kain would love this....

[He takes a moment to look back from the ocean.]

Is he a friend of yours?

[And Appa gets lower, soon skimming his feet along the top of the water and being delightfully relaxed by its temperature.]

[The breeze and the gentle spray of the waves bring Rydia down a notch from that wild excitement to a pleasant calm. She glances over and grins.]

He's my husband. He's attuned to dragons, but would enjoy any creature that can take to the air.

[It is so very relaxing.]

Oh! I didn't know you were married. That sounds really neat, and so do dragons! He probably would like this a lot, then.

[mistlegacy]

[She nods eagerly to that.]

I'll have to make sure you two meet, then. He's...well, taciturn at times, but he has a good heart.

[Even if he's susceptible to mind control and Malnosso weirdness and altogether too much else.]

[Aang wonders if it was hopeful or cynical of him that he assumed the husband was at home.]

He sounds nice. I'd be glad to meet him.

[And then Appa plops down into the water, floating like a raft for the moment and doing some light paddling.]

[She pauses to watch Appa, smiling.]

He must need times like this, huh? All that fur must be wonderful in the winter, but now....

Yeah! He actually sheds his fur a lot this time of year. Katara and Sokka were helping me clean him earlier.
