[The 14-year old monk looks into the video feed with a friendly smile during a break in the rainfall. He's standing on the lawn of House 57, and Appa is chewing down on some hay in the background.]

Hey, everyone! It's me, Aang. It's been a while since I really tried talking to everyone through the book, so I thought I'd give it another try. After all, I really like to make more friends, and it seems like something I should do more anyway now that I work at the Welcome Center! And... in case you only know me from during shifts or something, you should know that I'm not a crimefighter, a little kid or an old man, and right now I'm kinda sick of tea. I'm something that's called an Airbender and the Avatar.

I also want to introduce you to this guy, Appa. He's my sky bison. Say hello, Appa! [Aang moves to the side briefly while Appa gives a lazy bellow.] Isn't he great? So... this is what I have in mind. I wanna take Appa out more and do what I can to explore this place when I have time. And if any of you want, whether I already know you or not, you're free to join me and help me find places to explore. I think I'll do these kinds of adventures throughout the whole week, especially if the weather clears up, so if you wanna come, let me know when!

[There's some chittering noises as a lemur pops out of Aang's sleeve.] You can come too, Momo!

[So throughout the week, Aang rides Appa around the enclosure in search of secrets, adventures and such. Before he sets off, Aang stops by the fountain in the plaza with Appa to wait for any traveling companion. He also could be found running random errands at the Welcome Center.

Also, Appa may be familiar to some because of his fur. Appa arrived back in May, and especially in the time following that, he would have been shedding some fur with the coming of summer. So characters are free to have recognize that fur having been dropped throughout Luceti during his flights.]

The ocean? That's an amazing idea, Shirahoshi! You did make it sound really awesome last time we met. We can head over there to meet you next!

[Shirahoshi blushes, and ducks her head a little, but miraculously manages not to cry.]

I... I'll be waiting near the teleporter... is that okay?

Sure, that's fine! I could just ride Appa over, but using the teleporter could save time! [After all, the barracks were near his house.]

What's an Appa?

[She's heading over to the teleporter anyway, since it's a good meeting-up location anyway. Much better than "the rock that goes under the water, next to the clownfish anemone next to some coral", which is an excellent rock for sitting on and enjoying the sun, by the way.]

That's the name of my sky bison! Seeya soon!

[And it's not that long before Aang and his big ol' bison (but not near the size of Shirahoshi) appears at the teleporter on the beach.]

[Sure enough, Shirahoshi's waiting nearby. She's learned not to be right in front of the teleporter, but off to the side a bit, in order to give people their space. She waves in greeting and begins making her way along the beach towards them, moving surprisingly gracefully for someone relegated to crawling and slithering along the dry land.]

Hello, Aang-sama!

[Aang steps over lightly towards her while Appa trudges behind him. She's... just as big as he remembers, but he appreciates her gracefulness in spite of that.]

Hey, Shirahoshi! How are you?

Very well, thank you.

[She pulls up to a stop and wraps her tail around, creating the semblance of an almost human lap, with legs tucked to the side. Her fingers twitch just a little as she looks at Appa.]

C- Can I touch it? I've never seen a sky bison before.

[Aang watches her movement with some astonishment, but he tries to look polite this time. He steps to the side and motions for Appa to step forward towards Shirahoshi.]

Not many have! Go ahead, knock yourself out!

[Shirahoshi reaches out a tentative finger, and runs it gently over Appa's head between his horns.]

Oh! It's soft!

[She was not expecting that, for some reason.]

[Being petted by something larger than him is something that's definitely new to Appa but also very welcome. He gives a pleasant growl while Aang gives a small chuckle.]

It really is, isn't it? I can sleep on him sometimes!

[Shirahoshi runs her finger over Appa's head again, scratching gently behind his ears.]

I'll bet he's comfy. You called him a... sky bison? Are there lots of them, in your world?

He's extremely comfy!

[But he frowns at her question.]

In my time... no. He's the only one left. But I've met people from the future who say that one day... I'm gonna find a hidden group of sky bison and he won't be alone anymore.

Um, well, at least now you know he won't be alone forever, right?

Yeah. We both have something to look forward to. And we still have each other, after all. [He takes a moment to rub Appa's furry side, as the bison gives a sigh of satisfaction.] So... so it's not something we worry about.

[Shirahoshi nods, giving Appa one final scratch between his horns.]

D- do you still want to go explore the ocean with me, Aang-sama?

Of course! I wouldn't want to turn back now. Just one second. [He quickly dresses down into knee-length shorts.]

[Shirahoshi slips back into the ocean partway, then stops suddenly.]

Oh! Y- you'll need a way to breathe!

[And she hasn't found any bubbly coral yet.]

[Aang laughs.]

That's fine! I can make a bubble of air for me and Appa.

[He sits atop Appa's head as the bison walks into the water. And as they begin to submerge, he "repels" enough water through waterbending to keep z bubble of air around his and Appa's heads.]

Wow, that's amazing! Can you make the water move like Katara-sama does?

[Shirahoshi slips into the water beside them, and once she's deep enough, propels herself forward with her fin.]

Yep! We're both Waterbenders. [As they go into the water, and Appa begins to paddle forward, Aang begins to take in the sights.]

[As they swim along, Shirahoshi points out the more interesting parts of her home.]

There's a young coral reef over there. It's weird that there aren't any corals older than a few years, though.

[As they swim past the coral, a small school of fish fades into view in the distance, heading towards them. Shirahoshi stops for a minute, then frowns.]

That school is full of rude fish. Maybe we ought to go around....

[Aang's pretty amazed by all of this. There's plenty of "ooh"ing and "ahh"ing.]

Don't worry, Shirahoshi. I won't let them cause any trouble.

C- can you talk to fish, too?

Well... I can't, Waterbending doesn't really work like that, but don't most of the animals here talk a little bit anyway?
