Book 10.5: Aang Meets the Fourth Wall

[Aang was not a happy nomad.

Actually he was feeling relatively in good spirits. His depression was curbed for the time being after drinking some unique mix of special calming teas which may or may not have somehow been spiked with just a hint of cactus juice.

It was when he was trying to meditate outside the back of House 56 when his frustrations began. There was just so much... noise. Noise, noise, noise. Like there was a party near his house. Where did all these people come from?

Eventually, Aang had enough. He rushed around to the front of the house and perched himself on the Sokka head statue to address the crowd.]

Hey! What's with all the noise?!

[The fourteen-year old monk clears his throat.]

Sorry. I mean.. Can you keep it down a little?

[Well, this is rather a surprise.

Though Iroh can't say he isn't a bit pleased to see the young Avatar in good health, if a bit cranky.

He makes his way calmly through the crowd, until he is at the base of the statue. ....Isn't that the head of one of his companions?]

Greeting Avatar. It is good to see you well.

[He smiles at the familiar voice, forgetting how agitated he was. They may not have talked that much, but those few times were enough to make Aang fond of the old man. Not to mention the time apart that he's been stuck in Luceti.

So he slides down from the vision of Sokka's head to greet him.]

Iroh, it's you! It's great to see you too!

[Iroh gives Aang a paternal smile.]

I do not suppose you can tell me where exactly I am right now?

[Aang may notice the absolute lack of wings by now. Just as Iroh curiously notes the existence of Wings on Aang's back.

Those are new.]

I can tell you! You're in Luceti. It's... kind of another world that people from everywhere get trapped in sometimes. And we all get wings. Except... [Eyebrow raise.] You don't really have any.

[Well, all of that sounds rather, unpleasant. Iroh is not quite sure he likes this place quite as much now. Even if it's rather pretty.

Iroh looks over his shoulder to a wing free back.]

No, it appears I do not. This is unusual I take it?

Here it is! ...Except for today. There's a lot of people running around without wings. I wonder what it all means.

I do not know.

[Though that is an interesting bit of information. Apparently there is something special about today and his being here.]

So, have you been here a while then, Aang?

[And here he was hoping Iroh would magically know the answer. Oh well, he's still cool in Aang's book.

It should also be noted that Aang has started growing between the show's end and the comic. He's now closer to Katara's height.]

Uh... yeah. It's been- wow. Almost a year now...

[It had seemed so weird when he had first arrived and learned that Sokka and Katara had been stuck her for so long. And now he realized, he was slowly starting to gain on their time himself.]
