Book 5: Spirits of Adventure [Video/Action]

[The 14-year old monk looks into the video feed with a friendly smile during a break in the rainfall. He's standing on the lawn of House 57, and Appa is chewing down on some hay in the background.]

Hey, everyone! It's me, Aang. It's been a while since I really tried talking to everyone through the book, so I thought I'd give it another try. After all, I really like to make more friends, and it seems like something I should do more anyway now that I work at the Welcome Center! And... in case you only know me from during shifts or something, you should know that I'm not a crimefighter, a little kid or an old man, and right now I'm kinda sick of tea. I'm something that's called an Airbender and the Avatar.

I also want to introduce you to this guy, Appa. He's my sky bison. Say hello, Appa! [Aang moves to the side briefly while Appa gives a lazy bellow.] Isn't he great? So... this is what I have in mind. I wanna take Appa out more and do what I can to explore this place when I have time. And if any of you want, whether I already know you or not, you're free to join me and help me find places to explore. I think I'll do these kinds of adventures throughout the whole week, especially if the weather clears up, so if you wanna come, let me know when!

[There's some chittering noises as a lemur pops out of Aang's sleeve.] You can come too, Momo!

[Action]

[So throughout the week, Aang rides Appa around the enclosure in search of secrets, adventures and such. Before he sets off, Aang stops by the fountain in the plaza with Appa to wait for any traveling companion. He also could be found running random errands at the Welcome Center.

Also, Appa may be familiar to some because of his fur. Appa arrived back in May, and especially in the time following that, he would have been shedding some fur with the coming of summer. So characters are free to have recognize that fur having been dropped throughout Luceti during his flights.]

[You might have a sky bison, Aang, but Rokuta has a shouhi. And the two of them are also out and about, roaming the sky above the mountains without really expecting to meet anyone else up there.

Needless to say, Rokuta is a bit curious about another flying beast, especially one that size, and directs Rikaku to head their direction to investigate.]

[Wow, there's something else up here - it looks like a flying wolf. Too different to be Moro... a flying Moro sounds just silly, anyway. Aang can eventually see there's someone on it, but it's still not close enough for him to recognize Rokuta.

So he starts with just a friendly wave in the direction the the shouhi.]

[Rokuta spots the wave and sits up from his crouch against Rikaku's back, lifting an arm in greeting. That seems like invitation enough to him, so he has his shirei put on a burst of speed, bringing the two of them up to Appa's side in not much time.

Once close enough, Rokuta calls out a greeting with another wave, incredibly curious.]

Hey! Didn't expect to find company up here!

[He looks over with a grin. They're close enough that Aang's able to match the face and voice in his memory.]

Hello! Rokuta, right? I guess neither of us is the only one with a flying companion!

Yeah, that's me. And you're... Aang, right?

[Fortunate meeting, too, since Rokuta had kind of wanted to talk to Aang again some time after he'd had that conversation with Toph.]

I was kinda surprised, I admit— there aren't many around here. Especially this far from the village.

Right!

It's true, the skies here are usually pretty quiet. [Except for that weird creature that raced Appa that one time.] I've just been making sure to take Appa out more often.

[action]

That's Appa, I'm guessing? Don't think I've ever seen a kijyuu anything like that before... what is he?

[action]

Yep! And... I don't know what a kijuu is, but he's a sky bison! They're a special type of animal that have been companions for my people for a long time.

[action]

[entaiho]

Sky... bison? Huh.

[Seems a descriptive enough term. Rokuta considers for a minute, then shrugs.]

You going somewhere in particular, or did you want to land? It'd be easier to talk on the ground.

[action]

Nowhere in particular, just looking for adventure! I'm good to land. [He places his hand above his eyes and scans below for a good landing ground.]

[Oh, good. Rokuta does the same, then points out a likely-looking spot not too far distant from where they are now.]

That looks good, there.

[Hopefully it's good with Aang, too, because Rikaku banks and begins to descend to the indicated place without waiting for a response.]

[action]

[He takes a moment to look in that direction.]

Looks great! [But the voice hits only air as Rikaku has already descended. Aang gives a light pull on Appa's reins to send him in the same direction.]

Follow that wolf!

[Rokuta's chosen spot is a small, grassy plateau amidst the mountains, somewhere it would be nearly impossible to reach without the ability to fly there. It's quiet and isolated, and thus the sort of place he likes to spend time when the village gets to be too much, though he can't recall visiting this particular one before.

As soon as Rikaku's paws touch the ground he's sliding off, crouching to investigate a small flowering bush as though he's halfway forgotten company will be arriving shortly.]

[Appa comes down to a relatively soft landing nearby and Aang strolls over.]

Find something?

[Oh yeah, hi Aang. Rokuta glances up again, then shrugs and straightens up.]

Thought it looked kind of like a berry bush and wondered why it would still be in flower at this time of year, but I guess I was just wrong.

[And he's disappointed, too. A snack might have been nice.]

That's a bummer, I could have gone for some berries. As long as they weren't deadly. [But he shrugs.] So, Rokuta, have you been settling in well?

Guess you could say so. Least I know where everything is, this time, so no wandering around lost and confused.

Heh, I guess that's helpful. Even if it also sounds sad to Aang to be trapped in the same place again.] It's good to know. I started to volunteer at the Welcome Center the other week, so I should take more of an interest in these kinds of things.

[action]

[entaiho]

Yeah? I've never worked at the center, but last time I used to patrol the area outside the village for newcomers, so I figured I might as well do it again while I'm here.

[action]

[savedtheworld]

That's real nice of you. I guess it doesn't matter if it's official or not - it just matters that the New Feathers get some help.

[He feels scared just imagining what it would be like to have arrived in Luceti without Katara and Sokka there to see him and help him get settled. So he wants to be there for those who really don't have others from their world.]

[action]

[entaiho]

[He just shrugs that off, dismissively.]

It's something to do. Better than just sitting around all day.

Though while I was out a while ago I ran into someone who said she was a friend of yours.

[action]

[savedtheworld]

[He just gives a sheepish smile at his indifference, but he perks up when Rokuta mentions the friend.]

You did? Who was it?

[action]

Toph? She was practicing, uh, earthbending, out in the forest.

[action]

[savedtheworld]

[Things haven't been the best between them recently, but Aang still gives a smile for his friend.]

Oh, Toph. Yeah she's - one of my best friends and from my world. That sounds like something she would do.

[action]

Yeah, she seemed like a pretty good person.

[He glances around briefly, gives a small shrug, then flops down to sit on the grass.]

What she said about the world you're from sounded pretty interesting, too.
