Book 17.5: Fourth Wall

[Behold Aang, the young air nomad. Physically 15 and now mentally about 16, he's grown quite a bit from his time in the Hundred Year War.

Today seemed like a good day to visit the library. He found out from Duck that there were stories out there where the characters came to life and left the story. So now he's checking around to see if he can find any books like this. Only to find unexpected visitors of a different variety...

Alternately? He can be found out in front of House 56, deep in meditation, trying to see if he can reach his past lives...]

Right! Her.

And, uh... [He frowns for a moment. He has to remember and counts quickly on his fingers.] It's been about half a year now.

[dragoneer]

[ Hiccup runs his hand through his hair. ] Sheesh, that long? Wait - who else is still here? What about Ed? Sokka? Winry?

[ He almost can't put faces with their names yet, but he remembers his friends. ]

[And then he has a deep frown.]

I'm... sorry, Hiccup. But they've all gone home.

[dragoneer]

...Oh. [ He tries to not sound too deflated at that. ] But...you said Raven's still here? That's good. Is...she the only one at the smithy now?

There's also Leon and Asami... and they recently got a New Feather named Adela.

[dragoneer]

I see. [ He sighs. ] I guess things haven't been...so great since I left, then.

[savedtheworld]

It's been a mix of things. It's... good for people to go home, after all. It just can be hard on the people who are left behind. [Especially Raven.]

But... I should tell you about Sokka.

[It just hit him; Hiccup was gone before they had figured out Sokka's problem.]

[dragoneer]

[ Hiccup crinkles his nose, taking a moment to remember what Aang is referring to. That's right, before he left, Sokka had started being a real jerk. ]

Oh...yeah? What happened?

Well... When you left, he had changed. He started being... not himself.

Eventually, we found out the truth. There was this mission, and a horrible accident happened, and he... he was lost. [He says with a sad finality. It's tough to recall this.] When he came back... It was without his soul. That's what made him act the way he was.
