I don't know if it's Avatar stuff. It's the world we live in. Before we met you, that wise man in the swamp told us that everything was connected. He said... time is an illusion, and so is death. [He also said the same thing about pants, but that's neither here or there.] So it's hard to think of time as being anything other than one whole. But maybe it does work in some way.
