[The day after Korra and Jinora get back from the South Pole, Aang will find an orange-ish shell, still perfectly intact sitting on the bedside table, where it can be easily spotted by its recipient.
[Wan figured if anyone should tell Aang about Korra going missing like so many of the world leaders, he should be the one to tell him. Together, maybe they could figure out how to let the city - and the world - know. And then try to figure out what they should do.
He headed over to Air Temple Island, hoping Aang wasn't in the city and he'd be able to find him quickly after asking the air acolytes if he was around.]
[Aang is sitting in one of the patios, playing a flute for an audience of lemurs that zip around his head. He has his eyes closed at the moment, so although he might hear someone approach, he does not notice Wan at the moment.]
[Wan meandered over, then joined Aang and his audience by sitting in front of the kid. The music was nice and he wanted to let it go on for a while. But he knew he couldn't. Korra's disappearance couldn't wait.
[Wan stood back up, rising slowly as he tried to figure out how to word this. To say it bluntly seemed like it would be rude, but he wasn't sure if there was a 'nice' way to say it. After a moment, he nodded and spoke softly.]
Korra's gone. She's disappeared the same as the Fire Nation Royal Family has, the same as President Raiko...
[Wan moved to stand against one of the patio's pillars, leaning his back against it.]
If the world needs an Avatar, it'll have to be one of us until Korra is returned to us. However long that takes.

[The same as Sokka. The same as Katara. The same as Jinora.
His eyes almost immediately shimmer with worry. What could have happened to Korra, to all of them? She was just getting to know her and befriend her. And he believed in her as the Avatar.]
No... It can't be. [He mutters softly in disbelief as he looks towards Wan. On top of that, now he feels the weight again. In this time so far, he felt relatively free to do as he pleased, while also feeling worried about the spirits. But now he had to face the idea of truly acting as the Avatar again.]
The world needs an Avatar. Or two. B-but... are you really sure she's - gone?
Asami came to meet me instead of Korra the other day because when she woke up, both Korra and Mako were missing from the house they share. All their possessions were still there. But they weren't. And no one else we've asked has seen her. Not even her polarbear dog, Naga.
We still have to check the Spirit World, but if she's not there, then... I think she might be displaced in time the way the two of us are. Maybe we traded places or she's been sent to another time further in the future. Whatever it is, you're right. The world needs an Avatar.
[He looked up, smiling a wane smile.]
I've been thinking about it, and I think that if either of us is forced to show the world what we are, it should be me first. No one remembers me. No one has any expectations of what I should be capable of.
[But Aang... they built a statue of that's as tall as some of the skyscrapers. That's a lot of weight for his young shoulders to bear.]
[He looks down, pressing a hand against his head in thought. Thinking about Korra's absence. And about all the city's problems. It would be easy to let Wan take care of everything, wouldn't it? Too easy.
He looks back up towards Wan with a sad glance.]
But, Wan... You shouldn't have to do this alone. I- I don't care about the expectations. I'm the Avatar, too. Now that this time's Avatar is gone... it wouldn't be right for me to just stand by.
[Wan just wanted to protect Aang from the burden he'd been forced to bear at such a young age. A burden Wan was directly responsible for close to Ten Thousand years before Aang was ever born. A burden Aang was willing to bear.
He stepped forward and put his hand on Aang's shoulder.]
Then we'll both be the Avatar until Korra's return. And... I'm sorry.
[Aang wanted to protect himself, too. But he had still felt guilty even for staying hidden under the original circumstances. It almost felt like the times he had run away back home. He should be past that now. The vacation is over; it's time to stop running.
Aang gives a more determined look as he looks at Wan and nods.]
You don't have to be sorry. This isn't anyone's fault. This is just... it's just something that happened. And now we have to make the best of it.
It is my fault. Well, not the vines, but you know, the whole Avatar thing. That's my fault. I didn't know when I became the Avatar that my soul would be reincarnated like this. Before being brought forward in time, I didn't think being the Avatar would last past my own lifetime.
[He shrugged and tilted his head to the other side.]
The last Harmonic Convergence. Well, the one before this last one that just happened. Here, in this time, I mean. The one before that one. My first Harmonic Convergence. Or... I guess... our first Harmonic Convergence. That was explained to you, right? The importance of that event?
[How to put this very, very simply so he didn't have to spend a half hour explaining... Oh! Right!]
Raava is the Spirit of Light and Peace. She's the spirit our human soul is bonded to. I think I saw a reference to something called the 'Avatar Spirit' in some of the stuff I've read about the history of this world since I became the Avatar. Raava's that spirit. The Avatar Spirit.
gift!

I am the first Avatar, Aang.

What? Is that even possible? I mean... of course there has to have been a first Avatar! There's a first everything, but it's- it's you?
